Easter decorations.

Few years ago I was asked to publish my pictures in a magazine called "The housewife". It's an old fashioned magazine but with great interviews, ordinary people and very good recipes. Some of the following pictures are from that time.

Inspiration

Yesterday I took my daughters and my daughter-in-law to a seminar to learn to decorate porcelain.

My sister is an artist and she was the teacher.  To make a long story short, we had a great time and each of us decorated one bowl to take home and got materials to make 2 more.  I was very inspired and I'm looking forward using what I learned to make a lot more and in fact I can't wait to start!

Ideas in the making

Little princess.

Sometimes my friends and coworkers ask me to photograph their loved ones.  This time I photographed one of my coworkers granddaughter.  She was born on December the 31st, 5 weeks premature, weighted 1745 grams and 43 cm. She was 3 weeks old when she came for a visit, weighed about 2000 grams and was very observing. I had so much fun photographing this perfect little princess.

I made her a crown to wear in the photo shoot.

 So cute!

It can be very wearing to be a model

Candles and colors

Winter in Iceland is a very dim season. I try to lighten it up with candles, I have candles everywhere in my home, in my living room, dining room, bedroom, kitchen and even in the bathroom. Pastel colors are favorite thing of mine, I love decorating with pink, turquoise and powder blue. 

It´s amazing how a little candlelight and summer colors can make everything warmer and more cozy.

Last days of Christmas

I'm enjoying the last days of Christmas.

I love the mood this season brings to my home, wish it could last longer though, I'm trying to catch it all on "film". Tomorrow I´m going to put all the beautiful Christmas things in boxes and keep it in the attic until next Christmas.  I know this year 2013 will be very eventful in my family and I'm looking forward telling you all about it and showing you my pictures.

Santa's hat.

A big part of the Christmastide is preparation. We begin preparing early in December by decorating the house, making and buying Christmas presents and baking. All these things have become enjoyable traditions.  My children have taken a big part in all of these traditions and two of them are now making their own traditions in their own homes.  My youngest daughter is still living with us and maybe she just made a new tradition by making these wonderful Santa hats, who knows?

Good guests

Spending time with family and friends is a very important part of Christmas. 

Preparing for the guests arrival is what I love doing.

 In my mind the hyacynth brings the fragrance of Christmas.

 Lovely things, all gifts from dear friends and family members

 The present I made for friends this year, crocheted Christmas trees in many colors :) with pompoms.

 Homemade cookies are necessary at Christmas time.

My favorite drink, Elderflowerjuice with ginger, honey and sparkling water.

If your interested it's made this way:

Pour 250 ml. Organic elderflowerjuice in a pretty bottle.

4 cm of fresh ginger boiled in 250 ml. Water for 5 minutes. Pour the gingerwater into the pretty bottle.

1 teaspoon honey

750 ml. Sparkling water

Stir and cool

Enjoy with great pleasure :)

Christmas time.

Christmas time is my favorite time of year.  

I love preparing for Christmas, buying and making presents for my family and friends and baking and decorating the house and of course taking pictures of everything :)

My husband and our two daughters. Our son and his fiancée and their two sons live in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Red was the color I chose this time to decorate the Christmas table.
